Thinking of fitting an induction Kit to my Scoob.
Heard one on an Sti last night and It sounded pretty good. I was thinking of a Blitz one? Any body got experience with these...Easy to fit e.t.c. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ron H MY98 WRX |
Blitz seem to be overpriced for what they are, unless you go for aesthetic appearance.
A Group N impreza preparer I know looked at a variety of ind. kits for their cars. They used to use K&N (same performance as Blitz but half the price) but they have now moved over to Pipercross kits, and claim more than double the benefit. I have one fitted to my car (UK MY99) and can certainly vouch for it!! They claim a 10-15 BHP increase, I got 12 BHP increase, not allowing for variations in Rolling Roads figures. (1st run colder air temp - Nov, 2nd run warmer - April) Hope that helps! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Blitz did not fit my UK 95 Turbo.
ABS unit in the way. |
Yeah. I heard that may be an issue with mine as well?
Any Ideas what ones fit if the ABS block is in the way? Ron |
The pipercross is a good bit of kit...but be warey of quoting BHP increases.
An air filter is not good for 15 bhp (unless you are very lucky). Fit one for asthetically pleasing looks and a nice sound...and if you get a power increase then thats even better. Check out the scoobynet dyno site at dyno.scoobynet.co.uk MY UK car only gained 10 BHP and no torque increase...and this with an induction kit (pipercross) and a full straight thru exhaust system (Scoobysport...no cats). These figures were recorded at Powerstation...and to the best of my knowledge are reasonably accurate...unlike some of the rolling roads in the UK. Regards Ian Gratton. |
Thanks for your advice you guys.
Any Ideas of price-fitting knowledge and best place to purchase one from? |
The piper cross kit is £85
You can get it from Demon Tweaks or somewhere like Roadrunner Fitting is quite straight forward but I'm sure some of the guys on here will give you some help/advice if you require it. Regards Ian Gratton. |
Are you keeping your little precious now then Ron !!. Graham. |
I have a custom air intake pipe, using an "off the shelf" K&N cone filter. Out of curiousity, I tried a cone filter that had been lent to me.
On the PTS RR, my cars figures were really down, and my CO had risen to over 10%. Realising that the "sample" filter must be causing the problems, I switched back to the K&N. RE run, got an extra 30BHP, and CO back to 6.5/7% !!!!!!!!. Now this is based on my specific car/setup, but filters can make a difference. Mark. |
The pipercross kits are avalible from Falkland Performance in Scotland for about £60ish with SIDC discount
The fitting is easy, if you know one end of a spanner from the other it should cause no problems. Just read the instructions and be mathodical Andy H [This message has been edited by Andy H (edited 05-06-2000).] |
I wil be getting me one of them then!
Thanks for your advice all. Much Appreciated Ron H |
