Anyone got any knowledge/opinions?

Non-petrolhead colleague is interested in getting a Touran fitted with one.

It will see lots of 4km-each-way, city centre, stop-start hilly commuting. He currently has a manual Rover, but liked a Smart he hired, hence is looking at this kind of thing.

Thanks
Brendan

Only know what I've read in Evo and seen Clarkson say. It's a great system, no delay in 'changes and no 'jerkiness' between shifts. If auto/clutchless is your bag then this is the daddy(apparently)!

Quite a few orders from Audi on cars using the DSG have been put back. There is a weakness in the box and the change part required to rectify the fault is suffering 5+ week delays. In the AutoExpress this week.

Ta Chuckster.

DO, relevant for buying now, but presumably future cars will have the part upgraded at the factory?

Yes. They are all being done now. Wasn't sure on your timeframe for buying.

Im interested in the performance aspects of the DSG box. VW and Audi say its quicker then manual, and they publish it in their performance stats. But has there been yet a direct comparision with same car just different gear boxes? It would make interesting reading if someone measured realworld acceleration figures to compare..
