THE COBRA 7928 IS AN EXCELLENT ALARM. I AM A COBRA INSTALLER & INSTALL SEVERAL OF THESE A MONTH. HOWEVER I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING WITH THE OFFICIAL SUBARU CATEGORY 1 ALARM - THE SIGMA M30 AS I FEEL IT'S MORE SUITED TO THE CAR. WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT THE MAIN DEALER THEY WILL BE MORE FAMILIER WITH THE ALARM AND ARE LESS LIKELY TO REFUTE ANY WARRANTY CLAIMS THROUGH "MUST BE THE ALARM" SCENARIOS. I HAVE INSTALLED OVER 300 OF THESE TO SCOOBYS AND CAN IMPROVE ON THE STANDARD SUBARU "FACTORY" INSTALLATIONS. I CAN INSTALL EITHER OF THESE ON SITE FOR £295 INCLUDING VAT AND INSTALLATION IF YOU LIVE WITHIN 100 MILE RADIUS OF SWINDON. HOPE I CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE. REGARDS, NICK OAKLAND.

I can reccomend the Sigma M30 its what I have on my STi, Dealer wise what sort of import is it? As a Jap imort will not generally be welcommed at a main dealer. There are some who will but they don't generally like their names bandied about (or didn't)

p.s. Caps lock key is to the left of the keyboard, you can tell if its on as all your letters come out as CAPITALS http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Hi Cls,

I have the Cobra - had to get a cat 1 as the Clifford 50 I had didn't have an installation certificate and I had to change insurance companies.

Excellant fitting service (a crowd in Reading _ I forget the name) - they came to work, de-installed the Clifford for nothing (and pointed out that the internal sensor wasn't wired up - which explained why my alarm never went off when on with me in the car....!, did a professional job and I am now Cat 1 approved (or the car is).

I did look at the more expensive Cliffords etc but decided that the Cobra had all the bits needed to deter thieves (if any alarm deteres thieves!).

I too have a Cobra 7928 fitted on my Jap import (got for £100 as part of the deal with the importers!). Definately a good alarm.

I have, however had one problem. The pin for the boot was installed on the left had side of the boot at the bottom. When i open the boot after it has been raining the water drains past the pin. It had become so rusty that it does not slide easily and as such can be stuck open or closed (the alarm will not arm if it detects that one of the doors/bonnet/boot are open). I had it replaced and waterproofed and have no more probs.

Watch where they put the pin switches!

Happy choosing.

Tone.

P.S friend has Toad A1600 fitted on his Catalunya, lot of nice features.
