i think a lot of sites close down usually in the winter for a couple of months, but then its down to the discrestion of the site owner, unless you go to a p...gyp....travelers site;)

I think yes. A guy that I used to work with lives in on mondays to friday all year round.

There are some parks with all year residents.

On such a park you have to pay full council tax and rates as the caravans are classed as permanent homes not temporary accomodation.

Depends on the site, some have planning restrictions on them, so they cannot be 'lived' in, others can, there one up the road from me that has about 60 caravans all lived in permenantly.
If you have a particular site in mind, visit and ask!!
Might be worth a question to the planning dept too!

for 10 k its a decent home for two . If you decide to move you find another site pay a pick up comp and off you go to some were else in uk . I am carpet cleaner by trade so work is every were just seems better than paying private rent THANKS FOR YOUR REPLYS chris

The residential parks seem quite selective about who they let in-eg old couples,no kids etc. Most I've seen for sale have been a lot more than £10k though.
I thinnk for old people they can provide a nice way of life surrounded by other old people and no little gits lurking about the place.

I'll just second Lee's post.

Chrisgr31 02 January 2004 12:38 PM

Yes you need to visit specific sites and ask what their policies are.

As regards the homes themselves there are some stunning mobile homes around these days. Have a look at www.omar.co.uk to see some.

Chrisgr31 02 January 2004 12:39 PM

Yes its all dependent on the site, so have a word with them.

As regards the homes themse;ves some are fantastic and as large as my brick built house, with better fixtures and fittings!

Have a look at www.omar.co.uk for examples

remember thought that unlike a conventional property it's value will generally go downwards rather thatn upwards.

Banks wont usual touch them either if you ever need to get a mortgage on it etc...

If you have the 10k why not use it as a deposit on a rather more permanent home?

V5 02 January 2004 12:52 PM

Round our way I've recently seen static caravans selling for over £80k!!  AND you have to pay a ground rent/service charge apparently!!

Steve Perriam 02 January 2004 12:53 PM

jjones manages to do it i hear ?

jjones 03 January 2004 03:06 AM

Steve Perriam 03 January 2004 03:43 AM

hi jj

scoobydooooo 03 January 2004 12:42 PM

who the hell would want to ?? most of the sites around where i live are not allowed to let people live in them for 12 months of the year , it's part of the license from the local council !! it may differ from area to area !
