Has anyone ever noticed that anyone who works for Transco(gas mains) never seem to do anything.
Where i live there are 3 employees nearby, and their vans are parked outside their houses virtually constantly.
Is it me being sad by noticing this,or has any of you peeps out there noticed this.

I should imagine that if you wanted to buy a second hand van,then an ex Transco one would be the one to go for-vv low mileage.

Err yes it seem to be true that, there is a guy up the road from where I live and he works for one of the Utilities (not sure if its Transco) and his van seems to be parked in the same place for weeks on end and never seems to move.
Wonder if they all have other jobs and just do this as a part time thing ?

My Transco van is outside my house now,it's a Renault kangoo one year old and has approx 26,000 miles on it-low miles? don't think so Most of these miles clocked up are done on emergency calls and unsociable hours-weekend shifts and day shifts that start at 03-45 and finnish at 00-00.We usually get 3 days holiday over the xmas/new year period,any extra days (if you can get them) come off our yearly entitlement.

Did notice two Transco vans and three blokes down a hole around the corner from me at 8.30 the night before last. Think they like to work out of hours for the mega money.

Theres one not far from where I live....never moves off the drive.

During the day during work hours or the night. Must be permanently "on call"....but never called out :D

My sprinter 11 months old has 24000 miles on it. I dont dig holes but those who do tend to work bloody hard.

A lot of the vans you see around are used by contactors as it saves Trasnsco money by not having to pay the contractor for his own vehicle.
My average week is usually 55-60 hours. Out in all weathers on call 24/7 for 7 days on the trot.

My van is often parked outside my house all day as well. Thats because I,m in bed after working a 24 hr shift on an emergency.

Bet most of you lot wouldnt last 5 minutes with one of the road gangs.

Yeh... all that sitting in a van eating junk and smoking your lungs out must be hard work... Takes you lot ages to do any work.

Yes Transco vans do move! I maintain them for a living

After maintainance on them do you park them over the unworn piece of road/driveway that they are normally parked on;)

I'm an overhead linesman for the local electricity board, who has just got home after been @ work non-stop since new years eve, repairing the faults after the blizzards inNorth Yorks.

I've got a dickhead of a neighbour who often asks in a sarcy tone why my Landrover 110 (20k miles a year) is often outside my house when he's walking up and down the road being a noisy git. I too work long unsocial hours and am on standby/call on a regular basis - usually @ work in the early hours in atrocious conditions fixing faults whilst most people are tucked up in bed!

I, agree Chip, if most people came to work with me they wouldnt last 5 mins, most are rubber desk jockies anyway - couldnt handle proper hard graft!

Maybe if you fixed them properly they wouldn't come down every time it snows!

I was out from 8am fri till 3am Sat morning on a HV mains fault and the idiot next door to me has the cheek to say to me yesterday afternoon I’m a lazy git because I didn’t get up till 2pm. The guy I work with was out on a call for 18 hours last Christmas day missing his kids opening all their presents. Bloody standby everyone hate’s it where I work.
