What is a good acoustic guitar to get to learn on? What kind of money am I looking to spend on one that makes a decent sound?(any good online stores?)

From what Ive seen its just learning and mastering the basic chords to make a whole lot of songs, is this basically it?

PS good reasonably priced guitars can be had from yamaha, westfield and aria.
get yourself down to a shop and get the bloke behind the counter to rattle out stairway to heaven for you!!!

My Yamaha is a fantastic guitar, so easy to play, and sounds really good too, got it for a relative bargain a few years ago

you do really need to go down to the guitar shops and try them out, as every single one will be different, and if you cant play yet, take someone who can, like I did :)

The more money you spend the better the guitar and the easier it is to play. If you are buying new don't spend less than £100. Don't get a plywood guitar either as they only get worse. I don't know your budget but get a Norman if you can afford it. You won't regret it.

Tanglewood is the best value for sound quality for around the £100 - £150 mark... IMHO

ive got a £170 yamaha acoustic which i got around 4 yrs ago n it sounds lovely :) that reminds me i need to restring it!

My brother started out on my dad's old one then bought one for around 150 GBP to seriously learn.

Talking of expensive ornaments. My nan bought me a violin for 75 GBP and a recent valuation showed it to be worth ten times that now. :eek: I am tempted to sell it, but at the same time I want to keep it.....

i would suggest spending 2-300 quid!
you will have areally nice guitar and will want to keep playing!
learning is very difficult and if you have spent reasonable money you will not want to leave it standing in the corner gathering dust!
i have a fender something that cost £280 and it sounds fantastic!
i suggest making sure you buy a steel strung guitar for a better sound but it is really a matter of taste!
