Hi all, got a wee question for u lads, took off my intercooler the other day and there was oil on the outside of the inlet pipe to the intercooler?? there is oil inside the intercooler as well, the engine isnt using oil so not really sure how concerned i should be,is it normal for a small leakage of oil through the turbo or could it be the seals that are shagged??

I think it is normal, has something to do with oil vapours... maybe an Oil catch tank would prevent this??

You can clean the i/c by putting fuel inside and giving it a good shake.

This vapour comes mainly from the cam cover vent, there is one one each side of the block which gets fed back in ot the inlet pipe. On MY00 cars these two are t-pieced under the right hand side of the inlet manifold then fed in to the first plug on the right hand side on the inlet pipe.

I put mine in to a catch tank, not a lot coming out but each engine is different. Alternitivly you can put little oil breather K+N filters on the top of the outlets and block the pipes, I saw someone had done this at the recent RR day at Powerstation.
