Just bought one of these for my old boy.

It still apparently needs an aeriel lead to go from video to digibox, but it seems to pick up LOADS of programmes, as there is a scart in place.
Trouble is, they're all in black and white:(:

Does this mean he'll need an upgraded aeriel, or have I not connected it right?

B&W Suggests its outputting S-Video signal - but input is expecting a normal composite video signal

Yes you do need a arial connected
There are certain areas in the UK that can't pick up the signal to well and my go to B&W only
Did you check http://www.freeview.co.uk/ to see if your area is covered
