i have a 93 impreza and its an automatic. who wants an auto? beleive it or not.. it was cheaper than the manual. so im lookin in to swap the tranny. does anyone know if manual and automatic trannys are the same size? would it be a direct bolt on?
please help. thanks! |
most likely a direct swap once you change the flywheel
may possibly need the front part of the rear prop aswell and then the interior centre console gearshift surround just happed to have all these parts aswell if ya get stuck ;) Darbo |
Do a search both here, and elsewhere on the web.
Mechanically it is straightforward, althought there may be some issues with the ecu and idle speed once the auto is removed.. Auto cars also have an ignition key lock, so the key cannot be removed unless car is in Park. This is easily removed/broken off the barrel though. Theres also the starter inhibitor switch, and reversing lights that will need sorted. Also be sure that whatever gearbox you choose is suitable for the rear diff in your car. Although... I see you say Impreza L ?? is your car 4wd, or just a fwd model ?? If its fwd, then the swap should be that much easier. |
