Hi, I'm going to be replacing my everyday and weekend 'fun' car with one vehicle and have decided on a WRX 4 door as the best 'family' choice. (It has to be quite a high BHP to get close to 200@ the wheels).
My question is fueling based, I have read the articles and note how the ECU is programmed from new.
Do I have no choice but to go Super or UL/Octane booster?. It seems to me that the problem is the ECU's safe response to detonation which could be got round with something like an ERL waterspray.
Has anyone looked at water injection to raise the boost limiter.

If I have to use super then no problem, as one of my cars needs to use it anyway. But then it is running up to 2bar.

I did notice in Autosport yesterday an advert for "76" brand racefuels. The UK importer will deliver to your door in batches of 20 to 200-odd litres. RON seems to range from around 100 to 120 (!!). They supply Nascar...

No idea how much it costs; pick up a copy of Autosport for the contact details.

Sounds like a great idea for Trackdays or 1/4 miles.
Ideally id like to know that I can run a jap Spec car UL most of the time.
Just in case Super is ever priced way over the top.

Can't answer your question Hol, but you're probably right, SUL will be priced well over the top soon ... the budget tax break on the new ULSP unleaded seems to more or less guarantee it.
