I had a 1974 911S Targa when I was 19. Not a bad motor and lovely lines. Would prefer an older one now though. 2.4 litre 911S would be nice.

Been looking around lately for a 924 GT Carrera. They aren't too common these days. 170+ mph down the Mulsanne straight.

Tom Machin 23 December 2003 09:47 AM

The 924 when ive finished with it shud be around 550bhp and hit 180mph.

Tommy 2000 23 December 2003 11:52 AM

What sort of jet engine are you intending to attach to your 924? ;)

I'll get there one day. Keep drooling over 993s. A neighbour has just bought a lovely new 996 with the full GT2 bodykit and fab Porsche sports exhaust. What a sound :) Me? Jealous?

I'm seriously torn between getting another Scoob next year or taking the plunge into Porsche ownership.

As for supercars - you can stick your Merc SLR and Enzo, give me a Carrera GT anyday

I'd rather have the faster(and cheaper) replica, it was in Classic Cars Magazine a few months ago. It's a thing of great beauty and gives me a strange warm feeling. Or maybe I've wet myself

ALi-B 23 December 2003 07:36 PM

Old man used to have an '87 Carrera Supersports

- I loved it...still miss it. Nothing like your modern lar-de-dar Porkers that anyone can drive

I called him a fool when he sold it...he now calls himself a fool for selling it! ;)

Chris L 23 December 2003 10:12 PM

Or....

Had a 1970 911E when I was 19.
Then bought a 1977 Carrera 2.
Later on had a 1982 3.3 Turbo
Then a 17 year absence till my kids grew up (M3, Scooby, Evo5, Skyline R34 V spec )
Now I have a tuned 993 C4. Wonderful cars.

A V8 conversion
15 years old
You are either rich - or ya dad runs an insurance company :p

Tom Machin 24 December 2003 02:47 PM

Na, he's got a body shop and I got the car cheap (£400). So leapt at the chance. I'm getting the V8 out of a mustang and tuning it up to about 550bhp at the flywheel so it shoould be fun.

I think Brun meant that your Dad would need to sell that body shop just to insure you (assuming you could find a company willing to take your money).

Would a V8 fit in the engine bay?

How many exhaust pipes are you gonna go for?

MarkCSC 24 December 2003 04:45 PM

for v8 924 see here

Tom Machin 24 December 2003 05:39 PM

As soon as I'm 19 i can go on the trade policy and drive anthin' I want and only have to put petrol in the @$$W!P£. should be gud though with 550bhp. There will be 18mm each side of the heads and I'm having 2 4 branch manifolds going into 4 four inch pipes roughly under the steering wheel then into 2 and back into four for the 4 cheery bombs and out! phew!
