Anybody experienced bad service like I have???

akshay67 22 December 2003 05:25 PM

I've called them a few times, but they never have what I want in second hand stock - I guess that's because parts are so rare.

They generally get good reviews on here, so maybe just your bad luck.

They supplied me the wrong set of heads for an engine that I was doing at the time, and then told me I didnt know what I was talking about.

On most things I would agree with that comment, but when I happened to have a workshop manual in front and my existing engine in front of me in bits at the time, I couldnt be wrong.

Well in the end I had to write off £300 due to poor service.

What - they wouldn't give you a refund even though it was their mistake??

Danny Fisher 22 December 2003 06:39 PM

That was the extent of it.

If you do a search you will find a fair few discussions about them recently.....

Matt, I shall refrain from slaggy comments about Grade A as I do not want to be banned from using them, or having my post removed. :D

I bought a heater matrix from them. The garage that was doing the job phoned me and told me it was the wrong matrix. He was not very happy as he had my car in 1000 bits and it was taken up space in his workshop. He had to abandon the job and build the car back up to a point where he could push it about the workshop.
This cost me more money on labour and I had to hire a car for an extra three days because the garage had more work booked in. I also had a 50 mile round trip because they sent the replacement to me instead of the garage.
Saying that they did offer some good advice, were friendly and sent the new matrix out asap.
Mistakes like that should just not happen.

I've used Grade A a few times and found that I get what I ask for on time and at a reasonable price. I was even promised a lock set ' when it comes in next Friday' It did, my card was charged appropriately and I didn't have to chase, the goods arrived when I expected them.

All of us that do mail order can have a few problems and mostly the blame lies with the carriers, who are largely useless. I know it's a convenient get out but 90 percent of the time it is true. lf anyone ever invented a good courier service they'd make a stack of dough........

Andy and the lads at Grade A have always been in my experience 100%. Sometimes it is very difficult with various models and year changes to get exactly the right part as they change so frequently. But if ever you get the wrong part due to misinterpreted description or year change I am sure a simple phone call is all it takes for the guys to sort things out.

Keep up the good work lads.
