best engine to transplant is the short block chevy..its the mutts nuts

The guys email address is on the add...
As for the best V8 swap.... I reckon the ford 5.0L HO engine from an 86' > mustang is best (and probably a lot cheaper to do than the 928 engine). It's lighter and smaller than the chevy and just as easy to tune. 86'> model engines have forged pistons as standard too. Both ford and chevy V8s will fit in a 200sx engine bay so i'd imagine they'd squeeze into a 924 too. |
It'll be interesting to see what he did with the gearbox; as standard it's a rear mounted transaxle (ala Volvo 340) ;)
|
I thought the 924s still had a mid mounted gearbox (like the VW that it's engine came from)??
|
nope: front engined and a rear mounted transaxle gearbox

ALL TALKIN BOUT ME AND NOT TO ME! For the axle and box im gonna get mate them all up and keep the standard box, put the bell housing(which fits on the back of the engine holding the clutch on the standard car) and put the v8 on the front, then i can use all standard trans. failin' this i shall get a v8 with all the drive train and mount them ll on the car with the body off. wish me luck shud be done for march 1st 2004. i shall post pics when shes lime green and rumbles.LOL!

Read about a 944 with a 928 engine understeering for America. Another one told me he did that too and with two torsion bars understeering does not happen. The engine swap itself was never mentioned as a problem.
