Anyone on Scoobynet been expelled from/chucked out of school/college?

This has just happened (not to me – far too old for that) but to my little bro, looking for a true success story to tell him to get him through it. He's not a bad kid, just thinks he has to be the joker all the time, typical teenager

Great Christmas present for him (quote from school):

No need to come back after Christmas
Also, any advice appreciated.

Cheers

My old English teacher was thrown out of school with no qualifications whatsoever. He went to college and then onto university. He is now teaching in Edinburgh's top school! (Boroughmuir High School, number one in the recent tables published in the herald :D Mine mine mine!)

It's a shame really, quite often kids that are jokers generally do have potential. Schools should be more worried about the large number of bullies, kids that carry weapons and taking drugs.

My little brother was suspended from school for dealing in drugs.... it turned out to be rabbit food

Little ******* wasn't a crook, he just had a canny eye for satisfying market demand ;)

He graduated from Oxford with a first in mechanical engineering this year.

there always the story of the fellow who built the meadowhall shopping centre in sheffield.
left school with no qualifications. went into the scrap metal business and built this. http://www.meadowhall.co.uk/home.cfm...TOKEN=67037730

Is his "expulsion" official? That quote you put up is not one that an official state school would use.

I was "asked" to leave my grammar school years ago, at the end of the then 5th form, instead of being allowed into their 6th form.
I went to the local 6th form college, uni, got a degree etc, so it's not the end of the world.

Thanks for the replies, not sure he's Oxford material, and he would probably be expelled from home it he was involved in drugs.

Alcazar, unfortunately my parents have had a formal letter from the school, in which they also suggest he finishes his exams at the local 6th form, which as you can imagine didn’t go down too well.

eClaire, SB - Have I opened a can of worms?;)

I was talking recently to a 17 year old lad who had always been in trouble at the school my kids go to (and previously in their primary). Didn't cooperate - into fights but no drugs AFAIK. Had been slung out of school with virtually no exam results. But now at a music college, playing rugby at colts county level and happy as a pig in sh1t. No idea how this change happened but I was really pleased for him and his family who I know well. Sometimes square pegs in round holes perhaps? David
