Hi,

Just taken delivery of my new PC for Christmas (hell, if you want a decent present you have to buy it yourself, right?)

Wondering if anyone knows the whereabouts of a decent demo that will test the limits of a modern machine. I've loaded Max Payne 2 (jaw dropped), played the Call of Duty demo (ditto) but don't seem to have found the limit yet - there must be something out there that will blow me away (and start me saving again?)

Thanks
Steve

If you like flight sims have a look at Loc on modern air combat (LOMAC) its just come out, its got a few bugs but a patch should be out soon but it looks fantastic, Ive taken some screen shots and some of them look like photos of real aircraft.

Andy

Ohh btw for the euro version they changed the name to Loc-On air combat simulation ......LOACS ??? doesnt quite have the sane ring to it as LOMAC :)

if you want to see eye candy, try 3dmark 2003
Need for speed underground also has very good graphics, but the demo does not do the game justice

It's quite an old one, it's a Geforce4 Ti 4200-8x 128Mb . I wanted a Radeon 9700 pro, but for a third of the price it is better than most of the competition, and seems to handle DirectX 9. I did a lot of research before I bought - www.tomshardware.com got a thorough scrutinising!

Check here for the clincher:-

As I said, Max Payne 2 looks absolutely amazing, well chuffed! Waiting Half Life 2 now...

Cheers

I meant to add that the whole system (P4 2.8 800FSB 160GB, cracking motherboard & 512Mb fast DDR RAM inc. XP & DVD-RW+- and Aluminium - neon case) was just £650 inc. delivery, if you want I will put you in touch with the guy who built & sold it me. No monitor / keyboard, but if you are reading this I guess you dont need those!?

Tested it is much faster than an Athlon 3200+, and plays Mafia at 1280 x whatever which looks stunning.

Cheers

Download some tech demos from the NVidia website. Plenty of eye candy on there!
