How long before I have to get myself to the doctors?
|
It's either 5 or 7 days, sorry I cant be more specific
|
Thanks - my boss has been trying to fob me off saying its only 3 days

Cheers, our work tried to pull a fast one last year at christmas and new year by saying anyone going sick had to supply doctors line from day 1, until it was challenged by the unions http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-014.gif

Usually doctors will charge for a sickness certificate until you've been off for 7 consecutive days. At that point the certificate is a requirement and they can't (IIRC) charge for it.
As the charge can be whatever the doctor/practice decides, it can be an expensive business. Charges of £20 are certainly not unheard of and £10-£15 is common. |
Yeah, but it's worth every penny for a week off ! (assuming you're throwing a sickie)
|
Depends what illness you've had. I pulled a muscle and had to pay for a doctors note. I was in Hospital and they signed me off for free. Its def 7 days though b4 cert is required.

Also depends whats in your Contract :/
