What is best stuff for cleaning projector screens, Ive just got a cheap one from a Pub, full electric one, but it is a cream colour, and smells of smoke& beer :)

Ive took it out of the holder, as I need to replace the cable, and the very top of the screen is pure white

Ive tried standard household cleaning stuff on the back, but it hasnt made any difference

The screen itself appears to be made from a very heavy duty vinyl

edited to add pic to show difference

I'm assuming the material is tough enough that it would survive a good scrubing ? I.e. the face isn't covered with a thin film that will peal off ?

If so, use Sugar Soap. I.e. the stuff you prep walls with for painting. It cuts throught nicotine staining very easily.

Best bet is to get the material off on its own, lay it out in the yard and get down on hands and knees with a bucket of suger soap solution and a scrubing brush. Lots of rinsing afterwards should clear the worst.

Cheers

you've done the expensive bit by getting your setup.. why not just try to replace the canvas/vinyl bit

Only cost me 60 quid :)

I was actually thinking of replacing the screen itself with one of my none motorised ones, as they are still very white, and I have two of them

Will give the sugar soap a try tho

Ahh never thought of the AF Foamclean, last time I used that on a monitor that was rather yellow looking, and it came up like new, will have to dig out my tin and try that

nay worries, worth a bash...

quite a nice bargain, and great for PS2 games i bet!!!

enjoy...

Sadly dont have a PS2 or Xbox, but films look good on it :)

Just found my foam clean, and that hasnt worked either, you cant even tell I have used anything

So that leaves two things

1. Its actually meant to be that colour (same both sides)
2. The Microdots (the grain thing) are far too small for any cleaning stuff that I have got to get in them

Wonder how my jetwash will be on it

blimey mate, dunno what else to suggest...

hold on ... a steam cleaner!!!
go on borrow one if you aint got, that'll shift it!!

BB:)
I'm intrigued now, like a challenge.

Well it just so happens my Bro has a steam cleaner, so I'll give that a go :)

Right

Steam Cleaner tried, made no difference at all !!

and this is a decent steam cleaner, not a cheap jobbie either

Im now stumped, looks like I may just end up swapping the vinyl for one of my white ones
