Sony players are very picky about which type of media they will play. Try using a different type of brand/dye/manufacturer. Find one that works and stick to it :)

The weird thing is this.
Some discs play okay and some dont.I did a copy of "Bourne Identity" on bulkpaq purple and it came up C1300,disc is dirty.I did 4 more copies and everytime the same error. At other times i have done 3 copies of eg,"Charlies Angels" and everyone worked.
Its always been a case of none working or all working, never a mix.
I've also tried datasafe discs, same thing.
(Using dvdshrink and nero)

Plays genuine dvds fine btw.

Paul
Had similar with my Warfdale, i cleaned the laser/lens (on advice from a mate) with Isoprol(sp?) alcohol - the stuff for cleaning VHS tape heads or cd lenses. A cotton bud or two wiped over it and now works fine on any disk including 'backups'.

It did get really tempramental, would only play certain disks then it got worse so it was hit and miss to what it played. Since cleaning it had been fine.

Just unplugged, removed top cover swabbed the laser and bobs your uncle.

Cheers Ipski.
Paul...i'm not convinced that its a "dirt" problem as such, more of a software/compatability issue.
