A mate of mine has just bought a MY97 and the passenger door central locking has packed up. Apparently it remains locked all the time, and won't unlock if he tries to unlock with the switch inside ???

Has anyone else experienced this before ? Obviously he can't get the door open to have a look at the C/L actuator ??

Thanks Phill

It does happen occaisionally,if you persevere with the internal lock lever, it will "give in" so you can open the door and remove the trim, then get to replacing the locking motor.

Lets hope it does eventually give up ;) So has this happened to your car ? Do you know how much the motor is ?

Thanks for the reply, Phill

Babber, Mine has done the opposite, (jammed Open), The Motor is a little gearbox bolted just below the door lock mechanism, They seize up, I have freed mine up several times, Got fed up & have now removed it all together, Thus allowing, manual, Lock unlock Etc..
Second hand units are around £25.00 + Vat if you can find one !!!!

DeanF,

Thanks for that will try and get the door open and take it from there. Suppose I could phone Grade A Subaru and see if they got some.

Thanks Phill
