I recently had a new clutch fitted and this morning while accelerating hard it slipped a little.it is now doing it all the time during hard bursts of throttle.
my question is,do clutches bed in after a few weeks and need adjusting or not?
I will be calling the dealer first thing in the morning to sort it out but i am just looking for some answers before i jump down thier throats!

Hi Col, how are you doing??

Sounds like youve got a problem there. Never known a clutch to need bedding in to that extent. Be prepared for the dealer to say "Oh yes sir, its bedding in". I suspect its either been installed wrong or it was sha**ed to begin with.

Im not entirely sure but there may be a flywheel problem here also in that the plate isnt fitting flush onto the flywheel and as such is slipping.

Get it back to the dealer and see what can be done, Ive fitted 2 and both worked fine from new.

Regards

Richie

Shouldn't slip at all, in fact until it's "bedded in" it should bite harder than usual. Sounds like the plate's been contaminated by oil: it will need doing again but shouldn;t be a problem to get the dealer to do it free if it was done a few days ago.

Was the flywheel skimmed or changed?

The flywheel was skimmed.Went to the dealers this morning, the mechanic and myself went for a good drive and guess what? nothing happened! i will have to just wait and see if it does it again.
