I have a nasty feeling my classic clutch is about to let go.:(:
What should I be looking at to replace it, both in terms of "how much", and should I go for an OE Subaru one, a branded one, or an aftermarket special? Any advice on who does good deals on parts would be appreciated. Thanks, Alcazar |
it really depends what you are looking to do with the new clutch.
if you are an everyday driver, do not bother with an uprated version. if, to be frank you are quite savage - lauchs from rest, trackdays, general HARD driving - go for the lateral performance excedy option. i did this, the kit is about 450 quid, blo0dy excellent though. guarenteed for 400lb/ft torque, but will handle ALOT more. i like it - not to heavy either. The flip side is the sub £100 clutch from Autospares in Scoobyshop.
Bit of a price difference, and quite a performance difference... It is as good IMHO as an OE clutch though. May be worth thinking about sorting the flywheel out while it's all taken apart :) |
Sorting the flywheel out?
In what way? Alcazar |
Skim it or replace it..
Mark at Lateral can do a lightened one to go with the uprated clutch I believe. If you go for a standard clutch then you are probably on getting it skimmed.. I tried buying a secondhand one to switch mine but it was cracked when I cleaned it up and checked :( JGM |
