car is due for 90000 mile service,Been quoted £595 as new timing belt etc,
Now then scoobynetters,This amount to change some oils and liquids and a belt type thingy sounds a little,HUM how can i say this........

F**K**G stupidly overpriced like a muthaf**ker,Or is it just me thats not living in the real world,:eek::eek::eek:

tmo 10 December 2003 02:00 PM

Who did you get the quote off ?

IN THE STICKS 10 December 2003 02:04 PM

I think the 90,000 one is the very big one, as you get just about everything changed (fluids +belt..etc). I think I've seen worse on here!

Dave

MATTeL 10 December 2003 02:04 PM

Assuming the 90k service is like the 40-45k service then I would say you were being asked for a lot.

I know my service has cheaper than that from a main dealers!

IN THE STICKS 10 December 2003 02:08 PM

Have a look at this thread clicky

iain atkins 10 December 2003 02:09 PM

Youre not being ripped off at all!!

The 90,000 service is the biggest one.

Right guys!

Oil and filter just been changed(4 weeks ago)
Dont need air filter(induction kit)
Will fit spark plugs myself

So how much should we be talking if you take the above out of the running...............

(Because if its gonna cost nearly £600 for the service then me buying a god dam punto!)

TMO any good garages out your way mate!my quote was montys in sheffield,The same people who charged me £450 for a clutch before i heard of scoobyclinic in chesterfield!

T2000UK 10 December 2003 03:21 PM

Have you tried taking it to 'The Subaru Service Centre' on St Mary's Gate ?

They did my 45K service including belt for £320.

My 52.5K (tomorrow) is £80

If you take it into them & tell them what is needed (or not as the case may be), I'm sure they will sort you out far cheaper than Monty's will.

ethanrob 10 December 2003 03:28 PM

Just been quoted £400 at triangle in chesterfield me thinks i will take them up on it,Sounds a fairly good price as have already done oil air filter etc!

tmo 10 December 2003 04:47 PM

The Subaru Service Centre 0114 279 8111

Did my cam belt etc. top job, very nice guys they used to work at Bentleys before it went t!ts up. Loads of experience.

Also heard some good reports about scooby clinic but not tried them myself

tmo 10 December 2003 04:48 PM

Triangle ??? try subaru service centre first !

eddie h 10 December 2003 06:56 PM

as tmo says try subaru service centre. a lot cheaper than main dealer.

andyman2003 10 December 2003 07:10 PM

just had my my00 turbo serviced(45k mile 36months)which is just an oil service.had it done at bell and colevill in surrey(dealer).
it cost me £130.when i asked about my next service (60k 48 months)
which is a cambelt change and big sevice, they quoted me around the £800 mark.good job i was standing at the counter, cos i would have fallen over otherwise!if anyone knows anywhere in the surrey area
where i can get the work done a bit cheaper,i would appretiate it.

TORBOTITS 10 December 2003 07:25 PM

Price seems ok to me if you consider the belt alone costs £130 and about three hours labour to fit.

scoobyboy 10 December 2003 08:01 PM

it's not the dealers who rip you off it's subaru themselves it's them who dictate the times but an actual guide is about half what they say so the 3 hrs charged for the belt actually takes about 1.5 to do

The Gaffer 10 December 2003 08:34 PM

Ethanrob

Sounds like you need a cambelt, set of plugs and a general look round inspect condition of brakes, dedust etc. Based on £125 cambelt supplied and fitted. Platinum plugs supplied and fitted £50 a general look at brakes dedust and report £20 a total of £195. Why not give us a ring on 01246 590807.

blue haze 10 December 2003 08:51 PM

how far is chesterfield from london? i need a 45000 mile plus heat shields sorting plus general inspection.

scooby-si 10 December 2003 08:57 PM

north london 2 1/2 hours ish m8 2 if u drive fast lol

andyman2003 10 December 2003 08:59 PM

it would work out cheaper for me to drive to chesterfield, stay at the chesterfield hilton overnight and pick my motor up the next day!!! ill will give it some serious thought.

scooby_si 10 December 2003 09:24 PM

pah that's nothing but as already mentioned 90k is as big as it can get as combo of 45k cambelt big boy & 30k plugs etc, if you can get it done cheaper with still top notch service then good luck to ya but i payed more than that @ RCM (although a few extra bits which were feked) but i wood prefer a decent place to do most important work!
Si

BlackScoobyWRX 10 December 2003 09:41 PM

I doubt very much whether you'll get it done any cheaper than at Scoobyclinic at Wingerworth, Chesterfield (see Gaffer's post above). You'll get a top notch job done at the right price ;)

toplad! 10 December 2003 10:22 PM

I`ll second that vote for Scoobyclinic, I have all my work done there on both my scoobys, a top notch job done at an unbeatable price. Give em a try you won`t regret it.

scooby66 11 December 2003 01:12 AM

Yes i've going there for some time now for my serving needs and mods. I'm just glad its not far away!! Mind you some bloke sent his concorse 22B up there for a panit job on a trailer from Bristol because he did'nt want to add to the 3k on the clock sounds a fussy bloke with high standards and I can't fault him, me too!!! Very good work up there and nice with it too!!!

ethanrob 11 December 2003 11:43 AM

Thanking you for all your feedback guys......

Gaffer at scoobyclinic-bit late mate the car is in now only just finished nights and seen the post,Next service is coming your way mate..............LOL@myself(DER)

The Gaffer 11 December 2003 04:29 PM

Kev.

Turboteeth 11 December 2003 05:37 PM

Don't moan about it - if you want a Scoob you've got to pay the servicing costs.

Buy a Punto :(

pnbond007 11 December 2003 06:15 PM

Bit of a jaunt for you, but Midland Impreza do me just fine. drop your car of & spend a day in sunny Nuneaton.

Just recently had a full Service, motors done 72K, plus they fitted a new water temp sensor £277

Phil B

scooby_si 11 December 2003 06:53 PM
