Just wondering what peoples views are on what can be done to a 99 UK Turbo, its currently got a full decat and a tek2, about 260hp. Whats the easiest way to get over 300 and then some.

Last time I asked around the best option seemed to be Front Entry TD05, a few uprated parts for fuelling and remap the ecu. Think that little lot came in at about £1700!

Has there been any more takes on this since? I'm guessing the turbo will just have to go!

Anything over 300 & the turbo's going to be the restriction.
TD05 is the cheapest way to go. Not too sure if the standard ECU could cope with the fuelling if there's a Dawes controlling the boost? Could stick in a fuel computer before the ECU, although it all gets a bit messy if you want to go further as then the fuel computer would probably go :)

no dawes controlling anything, just a tek2, i'm told this can be remapped to control everything fine.

I was running a similar set up to yours 167 BHP, replaced TD04 turbo with a VF24, changed intercooler for STI v5,Samco hoses and up rated fuel pump. Ecutek remapped Tek2 for £180 + VAT, 2 hours labour(they had the car for 2 days and supplied a car free of charge to get me home, very impressed)

The car now drives great,well impressed(Now 299BHP)

merv, use the force, I mean the edit! :) thanks for comments tho, i'm looking at more than 300 though, btw who did the work?

re: the Dawes, I was just trying to keep costs down!
It would make sense to also get a new fuel pump (not expensive) and I'd also look at a fuel reg so you can push the 440s a little more (350bhp should be available at standard pressure but that's at 100% IDC). Also, an uprated reg makes it much easier to map more accurately as the standard reg is little more than a simple lump of metal (adjustable, I have heard, by hammering it at the right place - a bit of Wallis Engineering for you :D)

they did all the fitting of turbos etc too? Last time I spoke to them they didnt seem to want to get involved in any of that! They just wanted to tune on the RR!

nom 11 December 2003 09:24 AM

The turbo fitting could easily be done elsewhere - just make sure that it's done either right before the mapping, or drive like a wuss until the mapping's done :)
Turbo change is likely 2-3 hours work. Technically an oil flush is a good idea at the same time, but personally I'm not convinced (ready to be flamed...;)).
Also, I didn't think PE did remaps any more? EcuTek maybe, but I though Merv was almost solely a 'teacher' these days? It has been a while since I last spoke to him though so am probably very out of touch :)

i was hoping to hand car over and get a one stop shop service to avoid any complaints, can you still get FE TD05's new?
