I keep getting Buffer Overrun! errors whenever I try to run IE from my PC. I get a small window entitled Visual C++ Runtime Library, along with some text about the internal program being corrupted.

It's on NT4 and has gone pear-shaped since installing Super Elf Bowling from NStorm.com. It also seems to have a problem with being configured as a High Encryption setup, which is hindering me installing any service packs.

Anyone know anything about this?

I don't really use windows so am not 100%, but doesn't it try to send information about the error to microsoft. I would imagine you can get more info from there.

The info must be logged somewhere, I just don't know where. Not gonna be as easy as /var/log as everythings a secret in windows....sshhh

There have been quite a few buffer overrun exploits on IE - are you at the latest patchlevel?

Running the latest service pack on IE and was before this incident.

There is no more info available Gedi - all I get is an OK button, which isn't much help.

It's strange because most crashes start up Dr Watson, but this doesn't.

I've also emailed Nstorm to see if the game changes anything during installation etc.

So far, I have gone back to NT SP1 from the original CD, and at that point IE works. As soon as I updated to SP4 it went wrong again.

Hmm - would appear to have been some spyware of sorts. Used an alternative browser to get down the new version of Adaware, scanned, and it found 15 gremlins. Deleted them, rebooted, and hey presto - back up and running.

Getting Spybot down now too. Also thinking that the game set the refresh rate on my monitor too high, and that caused some other problems I've been having.

consider sticking with the alternative browser. They are much more secure.
IMO, opera is much easier to use and my particular favourite on windows, and in terms of development work, mozilla is about the most comprehensive browser ever written. O'Reilly have devoted a whole book to it.
