I have seen this EOS5 auction but thought it a bit dodgy as the serial number has/may have been tampered with.

The camera its self is in the same town as me so I can go and collect it etc. but was wondering if anyone would avoid.

Is there some form of check (with police?) I can do before buying? Saying that it may be difficult as it may not have a full serial number.

I don't really wanna get my hands burnt, and I don't want it taken away from me either :D

I'd appreciate any fast responses as it finishes in under 2 day's!!

Cheers
Darren

The base of that camera looks quite badly scratched, so I'd guess that it's had a pretty hard life. It's not even as though the scratches are just circular marks around the tripod socket.

So, whether it's had the serial number deliberately tampered with or not - and I can't even see the s/n in the photos - I'd be inclined to look elsewhere. There are lots of EOS 5's on eBay - there's one here and another one here. Jessops' web site lists 36 used EOS 5's in stock across their branch network.

Andy.

Almost 8 hours for a quick response. Good luck you had 2 days eh? ;)

Buy mine complete with extras grip. Which makes it a much nicer camera to hold. main thing to check is the function dial. These can break. Mine was replaced eventhough it wasnt broken when I bought it. £300.00

The sale seems ok to me but maybe I'm naive ?
I've just received delivery of an Eos 5 with the additional grip that I won the bid for on Ebay - cost me £200 which is a pretty good deal, camera is excellent condition.

I've got an EOS. It was my late Father's and as I'm not in to photography happy to let it go. It has two fook off lenses with it. I'm not sure what "number" it is, how do you tell, and what do the model numbers mean??

It was one of the few things that was left when his girlfriend fooked off taking everything he owned she said it was knacked. However I don't think it is, after all why did he not bin it.

Happy to let it go to someone on sale or return.

As Luke says those are the lens specs. Not sure what they are all worth, £150 is Luke's suggestion :).

Matt

Will pick it up later at home. :)

AndyC_772 10 December 2003 03:57 PM

Guys,

The EOS 1V is a £1300 camera and the 35-350 is a £1000 'L' lens. If someone's selling them both together for £150 then something is seriously amiss. If it's a legit offer then I'll have them myself - but I'll feel guilty about it!

Andy

MattW 10 December 2003 04:04 PM

Guys

The camera is a EOS 1000F.

I'll post the details of the lenses when I get home.

I know nothing about cameras I hasten to add.

Andy,

I've already checked to see how much the camera and lenses are worth:D ebay is a wonderful thing. As you have already said, I'd feel quility about buying this equipment for the price mentioned but if Matt is willing to sell it for that price I'll have it :D

The 1000f, is only about £75 to buy. The thing is, I can't see why someone would buy L series lenses and have a 1000f camera, it seems pointless. Maybe this is too good to be true :(

The only thing I would relly like is either of the zoom lenses.

Darren

MattW 10 December 2003 04:26 PM

It was my late father's equipment. He was more into photography than I ever will be, but he was no expert. I'll mail you later with the lens specs and maybe some piccies.

So don't get too excited yet, they may be crap.

Matt

Edited to say - I found what look like similar lenses on ebay last night and they certainly were n't worth the money being talked here.
