could I use one to connect a playstation wheel to my puter?

Steve Perriam 06 December 2003 09:34 PM

so your wheel got the standard ps2 connector like the controller pads ?

if so then should not be a problem....

get a ps2 to pc adapter.......the one i got has a usb connection to your pc and then you can plug in 1/2 standard ps2 controllers to it.

got mine from play.com....although currently out of stock :(

How good are these? I bought a pair of the old ones that Play did but they were crap. The USB just couldn't keep up with how fast I could tap the buttons LMAO.

I've just got one and although the buttons on the PS/2 controller work the games refuse to see analogue pads :( The pads do work in XP's game controller test screen so in theory the games should see them (GPL and F1-2002 being the only ones I've tried so far).

Steve Perriam 07 December 2003 10:39 AM

yeah having the same issue kernel.

if u go into control panel and game controllers the joysticks are not enabled by default !! so i turned them on and hoped this would solve it...

however i am still having problems with them working in games :(

only tried CMR2 and a demo version of CMR3 so far.....

Whilst we are on this topic. Is there a product that allows PC's steering wheels to be used on the PS2?

I have a M$ Sidewinder wheel and would like to use in on my PS2. Is it possible?

Sorry to the thread high jack:D

sorted.

joysticks / buttons fine now in CMR2 / CMR3 Demo :D

Sorted my problem as well, I disconnected all my other controllers and it worked, I think it's the setting which says which controller to use with legacy applications.

mj 07 December 2003 06:47 PM

so that a yes then?

how is a decent one?

kernel 07 December 2003 07:32 PM

Only tried it with Grand Prix Legends which is hard enough at the best of times ;) Functioned as I expected. I have the play.com one and bought it 2 weeks ago, I think on special offer of 6.99.

Need to try it on a few more games but as it's a new PC these all need to be installed.

Steve Perriam 07 December 2003 10:23 PM

its a yes if your wheel uses a standard ps2 game pad connector type cos thats wots on the play.com pad.

but yes for £6.99 its a bargain :D

CMR2 earlier on the pc using it was kewl.

Also have the Play one, but it is crap for SCGT and LFS :(

I have heard that the Wingman Formula GP (the yellow Logitech wheel for £30) works on both PC and PS2 - anyone confirm?

Hanslow 08 December 2003 10:23 AM

No but I have the Ferrari Force Feedback one (thrustmaster?) and that works fine on PC and PS2 via USB with force feedback :)

Mr Footlong 08 December 2003 01:39 PM

I have one of those play adaptors and the dual shock analogue etc pads all work fine afaic.

JayPSC 08 December 2003 04:13 PM

Just thought I'd try my PS2 GT3 steering wheel (USB) on the pc & it works fine with no drivers, if only I'd have known this sooner lol
