Like "tolerance progression"?
I've tried Google etc, but only get drug dependency related answers. Thanks for any info. Alcazar |
'tolerance progression'= the best description of marriage I have ever heard!
|
I believe its the same as tolerance stack up
which is when the manufacturing tolerances in an assmebly add up due to the tolerances of the parts within in it e.g you have 6 componants with +/- 2mm tolerance you can in theory make the final assembly end up 12mm out of line at the end make any sense? |
sounds like something to do with limits and fits.
try a Zeus data chart or something. tolerance progression could mean the state of a fit through its many stages ie interference fit/transition fit/clearance fit just a guess? BB:) HNC in Mech Prod Eng. (but dont like to talk about it) edited to say i like your theory RayC. [Edited by beemerboy - 12/4/2003 1:06:47 PM] |
I'm not 100% i should know though i did engineering degree for 4 yrs, reckon i drank away all the brain cells after finishing exams
now a design engineer!!! |
oi Ray, i bet you can still remember how to calculate the coefficient of linear expansion, and the point of demarkation within an iron/carbon equilibrium diagram??
all this info did me a lot of good. comes in handy when patching in network cables, i can tell ya... BB:) |
Thanks guys, RayC's post looks likely. It's for my son, doing engineering at tech. college.

eerm, think i must have skived off that day!
i do remember Youngs modulus though, deformation and reduction in area, yeild points and plastic and elastic deformation. wounder is i use it now too!! |
