Hi Guys,

My wife wants to buy some shares, as I know a few people on the board know what they are doing (allegedly :)) can anyone post up some info for a newbie - cheapest/most cost effective way of buying and selling?

She wants to buy in a specific company e.g. £500 of company X.

Cheers

Richard

try an on-line dealing service - should be around £10/12 per trade?

Keep an eye on what Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu are doing in the IT press, if you want an idea of what shares might be a good buy. I cant say any more ;)

I use selftrade. £12 per trade. Watch Digital Classics (DTC) first thing tomorrow....

Where did you get DTC from Kevin..........it has also been touted around elsewhere on share discussion boards today !!!

Whats happening with them ?? C'mon, tell us all !!!!

I've bought into them twice now both times after big falls. Will probably buy a few more tomorrow. Managing director sold loads yesterday and it was announced today he's using the capital (bou £500k) as a loan for the company. Company's done well in last 4 months of this year as well. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I'm into a few of the 'popular' bulletin board companies - RTD,MMD,MDY (monday looking good),PRE,FOG,MLB and TAL. Regular on the ADVFN board.

Kevin.

May have a punt on them then !!!

Whats he using the loan for ??

I'm into buying footie shares at the moment, luckily managed to get into Man United before the buying frenzy started and they are up 30%.

Just about to buy some Aston Villa shares, they have two pieces of land that they use for match day parking. Valued in the books at £1m each at the moment, but if they can get planning permission, each piece of land will be worth £25M. This is against a current market valuation of the company as a whole of £25M.

Although, Doug Ellis does get a hard time from fans etc, the club is well run and is on a sound financial footing. Makes it ripe for a takeover as well.

Also got shares in Spurs, a club with good fan base and reasonable financial control. Again ripe for a takeover.

Don't support any of the clubs above, I'm just in it for the money.
