Yep they do but they desevre it, other than Amazon I think you find it tough to name a bigger online brand right now!

Ali Scott 03 December 2003 07:27 PM

Amazon?? That site is a rip off and a load of cack in my opinion!! Much cheaper sites for CD's and DVD's that also don't charge for postage..

Butkus 03 December 2003 07:59 PM

apples24,

What were you buying and selling on there?

dba 03 December 2003 10:55 PM

a billion i think i heard

iDLe* 04 December 2003 12:34 AM

I never said anything about either of them being good or bad, just that they are bigger brands and probably more profitabl then any other internet only company.

Am I wrong?

paulr 04 December 2003 06:37 AM

Did you know Ebay was started by a French bloke who wanted a way for his wife to sell a few items...........must be the most valuable site on the net.

I find Amazon has a great secondhand book section.

oak 04 December 2003 08:14 PM

apples i've sold a couple of things on ebay but once someone bought something from me and then sent me an email saying they wanted their money back, i'd already left them positive feedback, in the end i gave a refund, should i have,

btw there was nothing wrong with the camera i sold it was a present i'd never used so was in new condition

TopBanana 04 December 2003 08:51 PM

I now never leave positive feedback until I've recieved it for an item. I had some bloke who scratched a brand new mobile I sold him demand compensation for the scratches. He left me bad feedback after I'd left him good - never again

fatherpierre 04 December 2003 11:20 PM

They make on you 3 ways.

Listing fee, final value fee and if the payer pays by paypal they make a percentage there as Ebay owns paypal.

My bill for this last month alone is just over £300, not including paypal fees.

Still, that £300 is money well spent when I've worked out my profit;)

Ali Scott 04 December 2003 11:25 PM

I might try and sell one of my kidneys on E-Bay, read in the paper some bloke is asking £100,000 for one of his.. :D

Idle: was just expressing my view towards Amazon, not trying to slate you for mentioning them, granted thay are a big name but I think they are turd..

paulwrxboro 04 December 2003 11:33 PM

MY BILL LAST MONTH ON EBAY WAS £500 THIS MONTH 600+++

oak 05 December 2003 08:34 PM

so what happens if someone wants a refund? should you give it to them if they have simply changed their minds, what is ebays policy on this,
your right about the costs, i got my bill in for £22 (not in your legue guys):D but i'd only sold a couple of things, it was the final price deductions that put the bill up

Warwick-hunt 05 December 2003 08:39 PM

apples are you telling porkies, i've just tried find members on ebay because i was curious what you and paul sold to get bills like that every month and the feedback for apples24 is -1 and paulboro12:D:D:p:p

True, I think the whole P&P thing is crap. Even paying for postage on returns is naff IMO. Can't see why they don't do it all for free seeing as they're warehouse based and have low overheads.

Pricewise though I've found them to be ok. Recenty bought UNKLE's Never Neverland on triple LP for £17.99, Pink Floyd's Wall on CD for £9.99 and Jeff Buckley's Grace on CD for £6.99. Chart stuff is usually under £10 too so is way better than those robbing cnuts HMV and Virgin.

why are you hiding your user name on ebay, is it because you secretly make home made jam and sell that :D or do you sell knitting patterns :D :p

ProperCharlie 06 December 2003 12:15 PM

Warwick - didn't anyone tell you that ebay is a *secret*? The website address is a secret, and those who use it do not like their identities to be revealed in case, errr,

Warwick-hunt 06 December 2003 07:33 PM

no jam then, :D damn it i wanted some strawberry :p

oak 06 December 2003 07:38 PM

stop having a pop paul, why won't you let anyone know your id, you must be keeping it secret for a reason, it sounds fishy, or should that be fishnet :D

Danny B 06 December 2003 07:41 PM

I owed E-bay £2.50 and continually got late payment e-mails, were talking 2 a day for at least 1 month, the feckers never gave up, I couldn't even block sender.
Needless to say I paid it just to stop my inbox filling up.
What do you blokes sell to incur a £500 bill each month

paulwrxboro 06 December 2003 08:30 PM
