An exhaust makes...

Just had a a new exhaust put on at Falkland Performance Centre in Glenrothes. Had the Falkland downpipe combined with a Magnex catless centre section and backbox.

What a difference though! Car seems far more eager to pull throughout the rev range and the turbo spools up that much quicker as well. All that with a much, much nicer sound.

I also had the emissions tested at the same time and I'm still within MOT limits - without any cats!!

One happy bunny...

Not really... but could be a very nice trip http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Useful to know the price for reference.

Mark Pitchford 08 August 2000 05:53 PM

For the lot, the bill came to approx £600 fitted.

The downpipe had been on another car for two weeks so a little was knocked off the price. That also included 4 hours labour as my downpipe bolts were 'difficult' to remove!

Mark,
Also brought the downpipe from Falkland , delivered next day.
Can agree about the sound difference much deeper sound and you can easily hear the turbo spooling up.

On my car the heatshield fowled the downpipe and had to cut some of it away. Also the bracket to connect the downpipe to the chassis was in the wrong place so additional bracket had to me made.

If this sounds like a complaint it isn't just that in some models the fixing point is in a different position.

Have since brought many other goodies for the car and the service from Falkland (Alan) was excellent.

Enjoy.

Mark,

What year/model is your car? I have an STi 4 and I'm wondering if the aftermarket kits, Magnex etc. offer a worthwhile improvement over the STi system.

Cheers

Markie J,

My car is a late MY94 WRX wagon.

I had the downpipe fitted first which removed the cat and removed the blanking from the inlet. I don't know whether STi's have the blanking as well.

As my mid-section didn't have any cats in I think this made all of the performance increases that I experienced.

The mid-section and backbox were replaced because the old ones were a 'little' past their sell-by-date and were a little hole-ey!

Hope this helps

your damn right
i have a MY93 WRX and taking the heat shild cover from the top of the downpipe manifold was a pain in the ass http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif but got there in the end, it came straight up, didnt have to cut it up or owt ?!? did u put it back on or leave it off ??? the 5 bolts are a bit of a pain, got 4 off but having problems with the 5th the 1 under the intercooler http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
guna give it another try 2mo.
once that is off its home clear then i can put my straight through stainless steel exhaust sys on, not sure what make it is, the downpipe has no cat on in it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif and the middle piece seems to have a kitten in itand then a stainless stell box then straight through to the back box http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
cant wait to get it on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
bet it sounds sweet http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
