Hi all

Perhaps daft question but what can a rolling road tune do for the car, when the ecu tells the car how to run?
I just had a scoobychip put in with 15.5psi,
decatted and k&N induction and Blitz no 7 iridium plugs.
Now question is would having it 'tuned' make the car better!?
If so what do they do? or change?

If a new chip has been put in then did the car not get set up then in some way or form?

If not I would recommend that you do get it set up by someone reputable who will either put in on the rollers or by taking it on the road.

Otherwise it is possible that something could not quite be right and may cause you problems further down the line.

Highly probable that the car will run better but even if not at least you will know that everything is running as it should.

May stand corrected but just my 2p worth.

nah, didnt get tuned or anything, the car ecu (Z4) was sent to scott taylor to have the chip put in about 2 weeks ago

As I said it is only my opinion with what limited knowledge that I have. There are many much more knowledgable people on here that hopefully will give you more advice.

I just live by the motto BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY as far as my Impreza is concerned!!

The Scoobyecu has proven to be very reliable. IIRC noone has had any trouble at all! The car should not need "tuning" and unless Pavlo is doing a personalized map, its not tuneable.

so your saying i am wasting money if i have the car rolling roaded then!?
The car does seem to run a bit hesitent or a few flat spots through the revs since the scoobychip put in, but has gone when o.booster put in - but i got the chip because octane booster was not needed. - not happy and want it sorting

I'm thinkin of gettin that scoobyecu for my 94 wrx ,....that does'nt sound to gud tho,is the car noticeably faster? ? better MPG??

The 'chip' is tuneable if you have the correct equiptment to modify the map :D . David Wallis, Pavlo and a few others have this equiptment ;)

I also have the scoobyecu from Scott and there is no hesitation or flat spots or anything wrong with it. Are you sure its the ecu? It could be plugs or coil packs. Mine was hesitating but it was the knock sensor on the way out.
I'm not saying that it would be a waste of time getting it rolling roaded, this would provide a graph so you can see a) the performance you've got and b) If the hesitations you say are there, it would possibly show them.

I also have one of Scott's ScoobyECU's and it's very smooth. Sounds like you either have a plug or coilpack issue, or maybe you haven't seated the ECU plug properly or even snagged some of the loom when replacing the ECU cover?

Also think you may have an issue with coilpacks/plugs. Hence raising boost will highlight weaknesses in coilpacks/plugs resulting in juddering/flatspots.

Agree, if it is a 93 with original coil packs then they are long overdue a change..

thanks for the help guys, yeh still got original coil packs but new blitz iridium plugs. Any idea on price and where to get c/packs from!?!

£50 each from a dealer.. or GGR sell them but not sure on cost..
