Ive started to notice a small rattle on my MY93 WRX.

It's most apparent at startup but very quickly goes. However sometimes when the car is idling, it can again be heard.

I would describe it as a moderate top-end tappet type rattle!

Any ideas??

Thanks

Richie

Richie,

You're not running low on oil, are you? Or low oil pressure? Just a thought.

I've developed a rattle on my 95WRX and I've only had it on the road for 5 days! If you're anything like me you've convinced yourself its a loadsamoney engine rebuild rather than a simple fix! I think (hope) its a loose cover by the exhaust but I'm not sure till I check it tonight.

Good luck,

Richie,

I've been worried about the sound of my engine for some time (MY93 WRX), its rattly when cold and still noticable slightly when warm. My garage (Subaru Manchester) has listened to it and assured me that it is nothing to lose any sleep over. I respect his knowledge and have decided to put it down to the age of the car etc.

To put your mind at ease try to get a specialist to listen to it, its probably nothing to worry about.

Tone.

Thanks chaps.

Its definately an internal noise as opposed to the exhaust type rattles.
As far as oil level goes, its checked weekly and theres no low pressure indication.

Sounds like Tone has the same sound, Ill prob get it looked at, but Id expect it to be the same sort of "Nothing to be worried about thing".

Thanks again

Rich
