Someone pointed out to me the other day that my clutch might be on it's last legs. His argumanet was that the clutch is biting at the top of the peddle.

After he mentioned this I obviously took notice and indeed, I have about 1 inch of play from bite to full engage, all this is right at the top of the peddle.

Is this a sign that my clutch is going? or does it need adjusting?

How much (and what make) are new clutches?

Doesnt necessarily point to a knackered clutch. You will definately know when its time to change as it wil slip like a bugger in the higher gears.

If it doesnt slip now, ie youre getting full accel from a standing start, and revs dont pile on at full boost, I would say it isn't a prob.

I dont know off hand if the STi has a higher bite than the other cars, but I would live with it myself.

Otherwise you're looking at around £900 for clutch (incl. fitting).
