I came to swap the wheels on my Leggy at the weekend (A set of nasty aftermarket things), and my wheelbrace and all sockets were the right size for the bolt (22mm I think), but too big to fit the inside of the recess in the wheel!!
Anyone know where I can get a 'slimline' wheelbrace, or do I have to attack an old one with an angle grinder? |
I ended up buying an extended 19mm socket for £2 and now use my socket set. Never had the OE wheelbrace
|
I had the same problem,......use a rachet and a 22mm
|
19mm would prob be better....i think the 22 would be too big anyway!
|
OK, 19 was probably what it was anyway....but the socket was too big still!
Maybe it's cos it was a cheap crappy one, and decent stuff is thinner! I'm on the point of taking it to the local tyre place and getting them to do it anyway! |
But you still need to get SOMETHING to get the wheel off, in case of a puncture.

Ah, but those wheels aren't going back on!
The nice BBS Cross-Spokes have a proper sized holes in them! |
If all else fails got to a tyre place... :)
They may either lend you one of switch the wheels for you. Or buy an extra long socket as mentioned above already. JGM :) |
