it is now "Open Throttle Season" on the way back home from the dealers giving it some serious stick......could not wipe the grin off of my face for awhile. I am going to sort out the suspension over the Xmas period, just cannot wait for Easter to come along, bring on "The Ring" again. :D :D :D

I'm not lucky enough to afford an Sti, but my WRX is in for its first service on Saturday.... cannot wait!!!

As I type this my STi is in the garage having its first service ... should there still be caution on using the full rev range, i.e. slowly increase the revs used when driving to 5k, 6k etc. or is it simply 'open season' once you've had the service??
Any advice appreciated.

If you've been gentle with the throttle up until now going full bore sraight away might not be the best thing to do. I increased the stick in segments and still don't red line it now. After 6500 rpm you've hit the jackpot so why stress the engine and not get anything more out of it.

Car goes in for first service on friday.Faults so far, squealing brakes (only in reverse)& cold starting(seems to be getting worse with the cold weather) Hopefully they can sort problems out.

SAME AS THAT MATE, BRAKES AND STARTING THER HAS BEENS THREADS REGARDING BOTH PROBS.

THE STARTING PROB IS DEF REGOGNISED SUBARU FAULT WITH NO AVAILABE FIX AT PRESCENT,

MY DEALER SORTED ME OUT COST PRODRIVE SPRINGS AS GESTURE OF GOODWILL. HAVE A MOAN MATE, £25K CAR THAT DOESN'T START ON THE BUTTON IS BO77OX.

DEALER STRIPPED BRAKES DOWN AT 10K SERVICE FOC & SQUEEK 80% IMPROVED.

Car went into dealers ,s&s ayr(free plug),for first service.notified them of faults and mentioned that the cold start is a common ,nationwide fault.i have read the threads regarding these faults & nothing seems to be happening.has anyone had the cold start problem fixed?

Mines only got 400 miles on clock (STi8 Type UK) but can't wait to get the magic 1k on the clock. I have been floating around the 4 grand mark on the revs and backing off, pity really as its just coming on boost but reading a few of the other threads I will have to be patient so as not to bugger the motor up. I used to own an STi Type R so want to compare although I have a feeling I may be a little dissapointed as my Type R was seeing about 340 BHP. Not to worry though I think the STi8 is a great car and may well prove a little safer on the fueling front as I blew my Type R engine up (melted pistons etc). Hope this one will be OK.

ive got 04sti kept revs very low for 400 miles but couldnot resist going a bit harder done 750miles now at least once aday go to about 6000 for short periods through gears car seems to enjoy it .i did the same with my 03 wrx sold with 11000miles never gave a problem and never used any oil any one done the same always very gentle with the car until fully warmed up

Picked my 05 sti up from 1000 mile service on Tuesday. Tried to gradually increase revs...couldn't!!! Big welly, even bigger grin:) Awesome!!


Really envy you guys with mod performance over 300 brake, but will have to make do will 260 odd, amazing grip though

My STI is now approaching 1400 miles and I have the beeper set at 5,500 rpm.

I can't wait to up the limit a bit more, it's a constant mental battle - short term satisfaction vs long term engine longevity. I guess I'll probably turn the beeper off at 2000 miles...

...if I can wait that long!! :D :D

mine has done 1400 miles with the beeper at 6250. Should I move to 5500 then?

Your car, your choice - I don't think there's any 'official' recommendation anywhere. I suspect that the way you drive has more of an effect on the engine than the exact rev limit - the beeper just reminds me not to thrash a new engine. 5500 is right in the middle of the power band and it comes and goes very quickly at full throttle, the occasional beep being a reminder that I should probably back off and show a bit of mechanical sympathy.

My MY04 STI has 2300 miles on clock, odd that I've been visiting my parents in Wales a lot recently via A40/M4 to get miles on the clock. Next visit to Wales will just happen to coincide with delivery of mudflaps from Scotts.

Nice Madog! my MY04 STI has 700miles on the clock now, i've got hte 1k service booked for the 10th of December ....cant wait! having to back off at 4k is agony. Accidently booted it past 4k in 2nd pulling out of a junction i never stopped smiling for another mile hehe.
