well pi**ed off

after developing an intermittant non start on my MY96 i have replaced the plugs leads, reset the ecu battery etc,,, and still no joy..

I was advised that it was the classic symptoms on a failing cam sensor... so i grabbed a replacement from grade A,, the values were the same (by .3) as the original parts...

i checked the part was ok when it came it was and i thought to verify if the cam sensor was the problem.. left the old one in..


well tonight drove home (21miles) stopped for an hour then drove the last 7 miles no probs....left it for another hour and went to go out...

yep it wouldnt start..... tryed the ecu reset no joy,,

so i duly changed the cam sensor...........and






IT STILL WOULDNT START


now im very pi**ed off... from what used to ba a great daily drive, it is now ranked as a bloody ford fiests...

i want a car thats reliable and starts first time...
not have the constant worry will it wont it... i need a car thats reliable, and if this is how the subaru reliabilty goes, then it sucks
jeez the cars only 7yrs old the wifes rover/honda starts first time everytime and its 13yrs old...


im seriously tempted to flog it and buy somthing else...
ive done it before, so its no great loss..

trouble is its a great car, and i know ill miss it...


any ideas i can persue now,, or do i get shot of the crock

Could also be a faulty crank sensor(cel would be on) or an immobiliser/fuel pump fault.
When it won't start ...can you hear the fuel pump run when you start to crank the engine over?

i have the same prob..it will be the crank sensor.. its just the connection on mine... when it will not start i unplug it plug it back in and it starts first time

can i use the cam sensor i removed???

all of the sensors i have, return a value of about 4.xx when i check them..

when i turn on the key, i get the click from the relay, the high pitched 3 sec whine from the fuel pump, and occasionally i hear feul moving throught the lines.(gluging sound) then it goes one of two ways...

cranking and no start or a crank 1-3 secs the cel goes out and it starts usually cel out/ start at the same time

the immob seems to work fine, there is absoultly nothing when i turn over with it on.. the startor is dead..and just churns when reset..

i belive the injectors are working as i hear them clicking when the engine is cranking
