My STI is losing all charge to the battery. car is 3 months old, all was well until I went away for 2 weeks. On return last week, battery completely flat. Only elec. mod has been new speakers 6 weeks ago. Doubt if they're the problem. Suspect it's the alarm/ imobiliser. I've had to charge it over night twice this week already as loses all charge if not used for 2 or 3 days. Anyone else had similar problem? Gutted as up at 5am yesterday to go on long run to south coast just for fun and car dead as a dodo!

I've havn't had this happen yet myself, but afew people on here have seen the same thing. - I drive with the side lights on all the time, following on from advise, as this is supposed to allow the battery to charge and thus stop the "my car won't start cause the battery is flat" problem.

Best of Luck

Dave :)

There are two possibilities. It's more than likely the alternator, but it might be the battery. Whichever, get it to the (s)dealer. It's under warranty and so their problem.

Same happen to me

Its a known problem get on to your dealer and get a new battery.
You should have no problem getting a new battery, i just phoned my dealer and they said they would hae a new one waiting for me when i went through

The same is happening to me I only use the car on a weekends so stuck in the garage all week. Came to start it up yesterday and no joy, flat as a fart. Was going to buy one of those battery conditioning gadgets, but if there's a problem with the batteries think I'll talk to the dealer.

Cheers.

lots of other members have had problems with crap subaru batteries so definately try this first via your dealer - I wouldn't mention the speakers either unless they ask you

There was a problem with my03 car batteries. I heard that they were all left connected on the boat on the way over and so went completly flat :(. Your dealer should know about the problem and change under warrenty without any argument :)

cheers simon

Just drive with side lights on .....so I have been told :)

It has something to do with the way the ECU is programmed (I am told)..so it only charges the battery when under load...sounds strange but I saw a TVR in a dealers with a flat battery and the way they charged it up was to switch on the headlights at the same time..illogical but hey ho
