Hi, i dont own an impreza but i certainly plan to in the near future so i was wondering what the performance differences are between all the different models such as standard turbo, terzo, RB5, wrx, sti etc.

Whats the difference in BHP, 0-60 etc.

After a classic '98-'00 turbo really.

Cheers

The standard turbo, terzo, RB5 are all prety much the same performance wise and all are UK cars with just about the same engine.
Im not 100% sure but the Trezo "may" have come with a Prodrive performance pack as standard where the other two its an optinal extra and put the bhp up to 240 in all cases.
The WRX and STi's are imports as far as clasics are concerned and have between 240 and 280bhp depending on the age and model, the later cars tend to have the higher bhp.
The imports ane usualy lighter than the UK cars as well helping them to accelerate faster but some have lower gear ratios helping then to accelerate even faster again but can have lower top end speeds.
All the Japanese imports are designed to run on 100ron petrol which means to be on the safe side you will need to run them on Super unleaded and octain booster, UK cars are designed to run on 95ron petrol but most owners run them on Super unleaded.

Would that be the same for my '98 Turbo 2000?
I've heard people quoting figures around 210bhp for them as standard is this right?
Cheers.

210bhp is about right. I believe that the pre-99 turbos had 208bhp, and the 99 onwards had 215bhp. The Terzo did not have ppp as standard.

Early WRXs had 240bhp, which was later increased to 260 and then 276, and the Stis all had 276bhp, apart from the Sti1 which had about 260 I think. Hence from MY97 onwards, all non-estate WRXs had the same power quoted as the Stis, but the Stis had more torque and quite a different engine.

I think that most if not all Jap import cars have lower gearing than the UK turbos, and the Type RA and Type R models have manically short gearing (5th gear is generally below 4th on a UK car iirc). However, there is an excpetion to practically every rule to the Impreza, and what I have said is just a guide. If you want info about a specific model, just ask. THe SIDC faq is also a good place to look.

The later STI type R's are 300ps - 296bhp, that's on the Ver6, possibly the Ver5!
Also the Type R V-ltd has different gearing, not to sure if it has a higher top end, I think it may have!!

The last of the classics are the fastest and the TypeRA the fastest of all (aceleration wise) due to weight and gearing.

like Sonic Blue Type R says the most powerful classic is the sti6 type r with 296bhp (although most of time quoted at 280ps (278bhp) because of the gentlemans agreement thingy), this is also the lightest at 1210kg same as the 4 door type RA, and also the quickest with 0-60 is 4.3sec, not sure about other figures, some more details comparing the different models here... http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/t...y/history.html
