Just been told by Liverpool Victoria that the Subaru Impreza STi5 V-Limitted Type RA (4 Door) doesn't appear on their computor and therefore they couldn't offer cover!

Has anyone got one of these insured with the above?

Paul.

Andy McCord 20 November 2003 09:57 AM

yes i have, just go on there website & look at the models listed, IIRC it say 280BHP 4wd import or something like that, they told me the same so i rang back quoting there exact model code off there site & bingo :D

Pitch Black 20 November 2003 10:07 AM

Thanks Andy!

Pitch Black 20 November 2003 10:16 AM

Just been on the website Andy, they say they don't insure imports?? the list is UK models only!

Paul

tporteruk 20 November 2003 12:36 PM

I had same problem yesterday - WRX Sti (MY97) 4 door - they insured 2 door but not 4 door!

Andy McCord 20 November 2003 04:32 PM

ignore that statement we dont insure imports, it was orig in there website at the beginning, but they changed there policy, without removing that statement, trust me they insure imports ;)

tporteruk 20 November 2003 04:41 PM

Yeah - but only if you have 2 doors!

Andy McCord 20 November 2003 04:45 PM

go to this location & look
here
look at the model codes, it say turbo sti 4wd (280BHP)import 4 door, you must quote that exactly

forget filling in the main ****e, just go to the model & fill it in

Pitch Black 20 November 2003 05:03 PM

Blo@dy H%ll,

tporteruk 20 November 2003 05:14 PM

supertouring 20 November 2003 05:32 PM

Sounds like your round at the next meet! Mine's a pint of champagne!

Pitch Black 20 November 2003 10:02 PM

LOL @ Super!

gothinducky 20 November 2003 10:24 PM

It also pays to increase your excess - I got a good discount for increasing mine to £500 (from £300 iirc).

Also they don't seem to be bothered about mods, as long as you don't increase the engine cc. I've got my brake upgrade, alloys and exhaust mods all listed at no xtra charge.
Edited to also say that at renewal last month, I checked with Priviledge, tesco and two others and none came close to LV without getting into the subject of mods....................

L & V are sh@t - despite using the link and finding my car on their website (WRX Sti MY97 - 4 door) when I phone to insure they tell me they don't cover this car! They told me website meant nothing - it was down to whether it was on their list! What is going on!

Andy McCord 26 November 2003 01:20 PM

im sorry mate, if you quoted exactly what is quoted on there website that should off been enough, is it the year of manufacture thats the prob?

KLR16V 27 November 2003 09:35 PM

I think he has said it is a 'WRX STI import'and on their listing as someone above has quoted their list says 'TURBO STI import'so technically you have not insured your car if you have a WRX STI .I know there is no TURBO STI import but if something were to happen they may get funny and say you lied about the details as you have not notified them of their error , if they say it is a printing error on their behalf then get your document ammended or a letter from them to clarify the difference in wording to cover yourself if the worst ever happens . The last thing you want is for them to get off without paying up over the wording in the document , it is the same as the reg. being wrong or a different persons name on the document .There seems to be alot of confusion with L&V on what they will and won't insure.

I can see type RA on the list BUT NO TYPE R !!!!!

has anyone with a TypeR had insurance from L&V ?

DanTheMan 05 December 2003 03:24 PM

I'll answer my own question, just phoned them and apparently they only have two imports listed and one of them is:

WRX STI 2 Door import (wahhay)

Redevilwrx 08 December 2003 12:44 PM

Minimum age of 30 on my WRX , u old farts haha

Just been told by Liverpool Victoria that the Subaru Impreza STi5 V-Limitted Type RA (4 Door) doesn't appear on their computor and therefore they couldn't offer cover!
They do not list this car. If you insure the car as an STi 4 door as mentioned earlier in the thred you are not insured, its not the same car.

L&V's list of insured vehicles is a bad joke, so many incorectly specified cars there. For example they list the 22B as a 4 door.

DaveW 16 December 2003 09:07 PM

That list is really funny, NOT :(

Now I'm going to panic until I call them tomorrow about my 4dr 22b ! Not that it mentions the number of doors on my certificate so I can't see it matters. But this is an insurance company so I will have to confirm it.

Oh and when did Subaru make a WRX STI 2100cc 3dr?

DaveW.

Stuart Knight 17 December 2003 02:51 PM

I just phoned and they won't insure me as DVLA have got the model down as a GL, and that doesn;t match with what I want to insure a "1994 WRX import" which is on their list!

johnfelstead 20 December 2003 02:05 PM

send your V5 document back to the DVLA and get the correct model put on, they will do this if you explain what is wrong.
