I built my own Dawes many many months ago using a Grainger valve

Pt.No 5Z763 and some brass nipples, but never got round to fitting it.

I am currently running a MY00 with a TEK remap and want to know 3 things :

1. What end does the bleed hole go in the valve. From memory I think it is actuator end.
2. Whats the best size for a TD04 - 0.5mm, 1.0mm or 1.5mm
3. How high can I go on a TEK2+ ECU. It's a TEK2+ that was set up by Merv at PE and pulls about 1.1bar in 1st/2nd and 1.2bar in 3rd/4th/5th. With very littls Knocklink Activity.

1. actuator end
2. try 1.0 first of all. If it makes a lot of boost on part throttle and runs lean, then increase it. Note that in testing I found the 2.0 makes it a pure bleed valve - the ball spring couldn't bring it below 18 PSI.
3. You won't run out of fuel, the issue is det control. Go by the knocklink. If you have the octane and it is cold you may get to fuel cut before it dets. Suck it and see. 18 PSI works quite well in the midrange, don't tighten the actuator so much that it holds over 14.5 at 6000 as you'll probably lose power.

Thanks for that, I thought 1-1.5mm was about right.

I've no idea what's in my ECU, other then that described above.
It was mapped for Peccy by Merv, and produced 284BHP and 272ft/lb.

You know how many ECU's I tried, and this certainly impressed me the most.

Got used to in now tho' hence the MBC.

Be careful you don't lose power by running too much boost then... the extra torque from higher boost can fool you, and running more midrange with a Dawes does also usually push the top end a bit. It broadly follows the EGBP pushing the wastegate open, but you can still push a TD04 too hard at the top, particularly with headers on.
