Im asking this,as my car still has warranty so i dont want to muck around with the ecu.If any probs do arise,i can remove the up/downpipes before slinging it in the dealers-----just being cautious.;)
BTW its a 2001 UK and will leave the centre cat on. Gary. [Edited by easyrider - 11/18/2003 11:21:46 PM] |
BTTT I'd be interested in hearing anyones experiences on this as I'm due to have an up & down decat fitted soon an a MY01 WRX

I have a STi 8 and had a full de-cat. The only problem I had was the cel light coming on and I had to get a fix module for it. A few trains of thought here. The STi 8 has a differant ecu to the previous models (more intelligent) and apparantly alters the fuel air mixture using the first lamba still working therefore doesn't need either a restrictor or a re-map. Having a re-map though would improve performance and run the engine more efficiently. I am still thinking on that.

3 years on a MY00. No remap, no problems ;)

You will have no problems what so ever.Get the CEL fix from Jap-Innovations and away you go.The car will run much better than normal with improved economy and more power.

Had my full de cat about 3 weeks now. No remap. More power, more noise and no problems.
Has been sugested to me that i re-set my ECU tho??? |
11months, full decat and induction and no remap

2+ years de-cat and induction kit, no probs (Sti Type R).
Will be getting a re-map soon after some of the threads i've read, and of course a little more power ;). simb |
MY02 WRX, had the full exhaust (sports cat, but same effect) on for a while before I did the remap anyway. No problem, although it took the ECU about an hour running to learn about the exhaust - didn't run well on boost when I first fitted it.
Getting the remap afterwards was well worth it, ran smoother, better torque etc, and released all the potential of the exhaust etc. |
simb 2 - What induction you running?
|
Ram pod induction kit.
