I am considering having a scorpion downpipe fitted to my MY94 WRX, having had a look under the car i can see that there is a sensor screwed into the downpipe after the catalytic converter. Is this the only lambda sensor or is there one before the cat and one after ?

Also will there be enough back pressure with the combination of a scorpion downpipe and HKS hiper muffler centre section and back box?

On pre 97 cars there is a cat temperature sensor at the bottom of the downpipe. You can remove this from the loom, at the connection near the manifold pressure sensor, as it will not be needed. Removing it has no effect on the running of the car.

This sensor activates the "cat on fire" light on the dash.

No idea how well a Scorpion downpipe will work.

Sorry, forgot to say... your lambda sensor is in the manifold.

Thanks for the info Pete i will pass it onto the mechanics who are going to attempt to install the downpipe (they are willing to try anything once!!!).

Stef - How much louder is your car with the downpipe fitted, my car is not exactly quiet now (the HKS exhaust is about 3.5" bore with a 5" tailpipe) i do not want to upset the neighbours to much Hehe.

I have been looking at my car again today to see how easy/difficult it should be to change the downpipe, as far as i can tell the only thing stopping access to the downpipe is the metal heat stove ? around the turbo. Am i missing something or is this the only thing that needs to be removed ?

I had to remove the intercooler on my car too, but you may not need to on yours.
