just pull your carpet back in the boot & remove the cover in the corner & dont drop anything :D oh & make sure youve not got a full tank full ;)

And it goes so much better if you use a candle to light the work place ;)

Don't forget to let the car stand overnight so there is not a huge gush of petrol due to fuel pressure....this reduces overnight.

Tim, just looking at the pics, I can see blue and black wires that come from the 'chip' and black and red that appear to be 'supply'. I assume that the new pump red wire goes to red and blue existing and the new pump black connects to both black originals???? Sounds simple but just want to make sure.....

What is the black 'chip'?

From memory......the old one was connected by brass ring type fittings that were bolted onto the pump. On the Walboro the same fittings are spliced together and connect to a block connector that just push-fits onto the top of the new pump. If you open the box the new pumps in, hopefully it'll make sense!

Ive just done this on my STI4. ( Poor mans 22b :) )

On the earlier cars the two blacks and the blue and red bolt together on their respective -ve and +ve terminals.

On the Walbro pump, and the later cars (so you might be lucky) you have a plug that just clips in.

To fit my earlier car, I had to solder the original blue and red wires together AND THEN solder them both to the red wire that goes to the Walbro supplied plug. (3 wires soldered together in total).

Then I replicated the exercise for all the black wires.

I also sliped a heat shrink sleve over both soldered connectors to stop them from coming apart (my soldering was actually better when I was 12 and modifying Scalextrics :( )

The chip thing is an anti-spark do-hickey.
