Had a new pair of F1's put on the back but they are GSD3's, the ones on front (still with 4mm tread) are GSD2's. I'm not happy with the handling but am slightly confused because I had the 'tracking' done when they were put on, so, it could be that the tracking screwed my last Powerstation set up (done ages ago) or the mix of tyres... So should I nip down to Powerstation for a tweek or get new GSD3's on front.

I suspect that I need to do both but wondered if anyone here has had any experience with the above situation? FWIW, the handling feels, err, worrying! Back end feels like it's about to let go, even at 30mph! It doesn't though!

Are you sure the rears don't just need 'running in' and getting all the 'bobbles' off? I've never had just 2 wheels put on so can't really comment on the handling but when I got my last set of GSD2's the handling was REALLY twitchy for ages! That was 30k+ miles ago and the handling ever since has been nothing but jaw-droppingly awesome! I am hoping that (a) the GSD3 are better (or at least no worse) than the GSD2 and (b) that I can afford a new set!!!

I suggest its due to the tyres not being run in yet, it can take quite a few hundred miles depending on usage.

However, if you've had the powerstation bumpsteer mod, the tracking should be set to powerstations settings, which off the top of my head is 1 deg of toe in on the front (although for some reason the number 7 is in my head :confused:) but check your printout for the correct settings, and get it redone to that otherwise you may end up changing the fronts earlier than you thought!

Funny thing is that today I started to feel like it was driving better but wondered if I'd just got used to things! Was just concerned that the two types of F1's may be incompatible, but am feeling better about it today!

I am actually having to do what you have done and will be getting 2 new GSD3s on the car whilst keeping 2 old (but not yet illegal) GSD2s. I did want to get some larger 17" wheels but what with cash flow (it is coming up to Chrimble y'know!) & not having anywhere to store the old 16"s before I sell them I have taken the advice of the other half (as much as it galls me to admit it) and gone for just new tyres :(
At least I am getting 2 GSD3s for a smidgin under £100 each which, from what I can gather, isn't too bad!

Micheldever did me two GSD3's for 180 ish - on 17 inch rims, not bad!

BTW, they accidently left off the front right's mini hub cap so I emailed them and it came in the post 2 days later. Excellent!

GSD3s take ages to wear in. I'm on my third set on two different Scoobs, changed all 4 each time, and both 17"40s and 45s took around 1000 miles to feel good in the dry. But they just get better and better once you approach that kind of mileage.
Strangely the 16/50's I did in the middle didn't feel too bad new....Maybe I just drive like an old lady...

Dunno about driving like an old lady Jerry B - how many sets of tyres you gone thru recently? Didn't the GSD3s only come out last year?? ;)

I got 30,000 on the front's with the other two still having 4mm, sounds like I drive like a granny!
