can someone help.

I have a 2002 WRX and recently (three times over three months) it makes a very bad metal-on metal "graunching noise" at cold start up. There is then a ticking noise (similar to tappet noise) in the area near the Turbo. Also there is a burnt rubbery/oily smell from exhaust. this only lasts about 10mins and then all ok. i have taken it three times to my service guy who can't fault it.

Any advice???
