Right after going to PE yesterday and my engine expiring i am now looking at a 2.2/2.5/reliable/????? solution to getting my car sorted!

So that brings me on to the next question!

Who would be up for a rolling road day at PE say Feb/march time to get the most powerful scoobs in the country together for a shootout?

Any scoob any configuration, they have just got to be over 400bhp :D

Now i'm thinking of a date thats a good 3/4 months away so for one i can be ready ;) and for some of the big boys to have enough time aswell :) would be nice to have Rannoch, Mark A, Wallis, Steven Darley, Harvey and even Pat to get his car ready;)

So who will be up for it? 400+ers need apply!

Scott

Dazza01 16 November 2003 06:26 PM

A 220bhp to 382bhp UK300
Looks like you won't be going then, eh scott :p:D

RB5SCOTT 16 November 2003 06:30 PM

Its 346bhp at the moment on 3 cylinders :p hence why i will be rebuilding my engine like i said in the original post :p so with about 450bhp i might just put myself in there ;) :p

Scott;)

David_Wallis 16 November 2003 07:40 PM

Im up for that, dont know if im over 400 though :D

Can we have a choice of rolling road??

I dont know what PE etc's roads are like but grip might be a problem.

David

RB5SCOTT 16 November 2003 07:49 PM

Yeah as long as its not too far up north :D you get Elvington ;)

PE can take 700bhp i think!??????

johnfelstead 16 November 2003 07:55 PM

Why not use Prosport's rollers. They are a modern, quality set or rollers rated at 1200BHP.

Sorry to hear about your engine Scott.

scooby-si 16 November 2003 07:59 PM

will be up for this if its finished by then :D

does 400lbs+ torque count

Shall I start a spectators list? ;)

RB5SCOTT 16 November 2003 09:56 PM

You can organise it Pele ;)

john banks 16 November 2003 10:34 PM

Spectators wear bullet proof vests in case bits of piston shrapnel come out of the exhausts ;)

LOL, when we were mapping my car at PE in Spring 02 and we were running it at 19 PSI on a TD04 hybrid Steve moved his feet out of the footwell as he thought a conrod was going to come through and bite his ankles :D

John,

Did I mention anything to do with North, or South ?

My comment was directed at "Stockport, south of Manchester" :p ;)

But since you Bring up North/South, apart from JB, Trout, Steven Darley, David Wallis, Harvey, Rich Wild, Etc, have hardley had far to travel for the last 6 Well Lane shoot outs !!!

Or, is it because you only live 10min's away from Prosport, and also happen to help them out, running their RR for them  :D

TBH, I don't think it matters where it's run, so long as the dyno is used to running big power Subaru's. Guess that means we'll all need to get our engines down to DTW then :D

Mark. tongue firmly in cheek........

News to me Mark regarding running their rolling road. I do know how to use the RR there having used it for my own car a few times for reasons you are well aware of, ie getting it mapped and then using it to diagnose my engine post rebuild when it was detting its bollox off.

I have "helped them out" as you put it, by manning the phone for a few days, to assist them when they were very busy in return for the favour of them allowing me to use their facilities for free, to rebuild my engine after it failed at TOTB2. This helped speed up me getting my car back on the road and at the same time gave me an insight into what is involved in running a top quality Subaru specialists on a daily basis.

If you are implying i work for them, then you are wrong, i spend too much time abroad on WRC events to be employable right now. :D I am a long term customer of theirs and apreciate the quality of service they offer and the amount of help they gave me when my car was in a seriously sick state post TOTB2.

As to living close to them, i dont see what relevence that has as i wont be running my car because it only has 300BHP. You should know by now i dont follow the RR days, it's not my thing, but there are good facilities available that others may apreciate that are worth a mention in this thread.

Now can we get back to what this thread is all about please. If you want to use a very good quality RR that gives what seems to be very acurate readings and doesnt load the cars up excesively then Prosport is a very good option.

I am not 100% sure my car will be ready in time as my plan of action spans to April... But put my name down as a poss.

If it can be April i'll be there ;)

Rob

trevkx125 17 November 2003 01:49 AM

If you are coming dwn south the I would say G-Force is the place to go.

They know there stuff with scoobs and have a superb rolling road.

Trev.

wrrjones 17 November 2003 07:18 AM

i should be there too fingers crossed so put my name down .... chris

ChristianR 17 November 2003 08:18 AM

put me down, but will need to know the date rather soon!

P20SPD 17 November 2003 08:45 AM

Dont think i will be over 400 Scott:(. Current engine running fine (touch wood) so sold the 2.5 block to someone else.

I will come and benchmark if you like, mid 340ish scoob at Well Lane, see what it does at PE. I could run 1st and then you can all laugh as you beat it.

Sorry to hear about the engine, what happened (barring the obvious)

Mail me if you like

Steven

MadMark 17 November 2003 09:35 AM

Agree with the comments on G-Force - I am going along to check it out very soon (for my RR Day in Jan) - but the spec is amazing and makes most rolling roads look prehistoric .....
Aylesbury is a nice easy location for everyone to get too as it's only 15 mins off the M40 and 30 mins from the M1 at Milton Keynes!

ChristianR 17 November 2003 10:16 AM

Be much better if you can make it south as well, instead of up north!

R19KET 17 November 2003 11:39 AM

John,

I clearly said "help them out". I did not say, or imply that you worked for them.

YOU told me that you ran a RR day for them, and that's what my comments were based on ! Maybe I misunderstood just what your involvement was.........

Mark.

johnfelstead 17 November 2003 12:25 PM

Mark, you know exactly what you were implying, you arent that stupid. I am amazed you are writing details of our telephone conversations on an internet BBS, especially ones where you have obviously got the wrong end of the stick from.

R19KET 17 November 2003 02:29 PM

John,

You are turning what started off as a "Joke" comment from me about "Stockport", into something very different !

I am amazed you are writing details of our telephone conversations on an internet BBS
This was not a conversation told in confidence, nore did you ever state, or imply that it should be kept that way. I thought that one of the reasons you had told me, was because if people knew you were invloved, they would be more inclinded to try a relatively unknown RR.

For the sake of the thread, I'll concede that I misunderstood what you told me. The fact that I believed you were involved in running their dyno, is a good, not a bad thing.

Mark.

johnfelstead 17 November 2003 02:39 PM

I was under the impresion all telephone conversations are private afairs, i guess i was wrong. Can we let this drop. It has no bearing on this thread.
