I have just brought a 1995 Legacy 2.0 Turbo (uk model), Unfortunatly there is a nasty noise in the engine. Following advice from a previous forum, I am led to believe that it is noisey tappets/Hydraulic lifters. Some folks have advised different grades of oil such as Castrol 10w60.
I was considering using an oil additive to quieten them. Does any one have any advice, recommendations or concerns with oil additives in the EJ20 engine. [Edited by jubba6 - 11/15/2003 7:25:08 PM] |

I Went through this myself,This was the answers i got.....If you use flush to the oil before changing the oil,And run for some 10-15 mins,It will flush the oil galleries out,BUT..Where will all the crap go...?.(hopefully into the oil filter..BUT...?.)Then there is the addative that you just add to the oil and leave in till next oil change...I was told not to use that,Becouse its high in detergent and not lubricant....Then someone said you never use engine flush in a subaru,So really,Its down to yourself,Same as me....I`m still non the wiser.....Good luck...Kev.
