I have seen TSW Venoms for sale at £299 a set of 4 - 17s.

Any particular reasons (technical rather than aesthetic) why I shouldn't be tempted by these?

The aesthetics should be more than enough.

I hadn't realised they were that uncool..... Try to imagine them in gold, bronze, black chrome or charcoal rather than bright silver...

If running them on a Classic 17s with 205/45s or 215/40s, should they be OK hitting the odd pot-hole or will they bend/break? I'm not normally a loony and I hate kerbing alloys but the roads I'd be using tend to succumb to pot holes frequently.

From my use of Venoms, back in 1996/97, they will not take to potholes too well.

DONT DO IT due to their design they are a very weak rim (too convex?) , pass the smallest of holes and their knackered buckled two in about 3 months. Drive over a kerb at 70 and 4 fcuked rims(I know I did it...dont ask) and then you cant get RAC to bring a flatbed low enough to get the lowered bodykitted calibra with 4 flats on.

Still sitting in the shed with some decent 215 40 17 perilli 7000 on.

Oh and for the record they were on in 1998, oldies:D

Yeah, I wouldn't be going for many TSW's to be honest, they don't use the strongest manufacturing process or right compounds to make strong wheels, they're mainly a Nova / Corsa job IMO.

Stay away - even if it's not pothole city by you, best not.

Best thing about Venom's is you can weigh them in :D

I had a set fot 3mths when they came out because at the time it was the only 17" wheel I could get to fit a 205 as soon as I found something else - off they came. Terrible wheel

If you want 17's then some of the fox range are quite reasonably priced.
