have any of you noticed anything funny on the polished rim, like small burnt splashes? more so on the part of the rim where the spoke comes down to meet it?

i'm wondering cause...I DO!!!:(

if it's a common fault i'm gonna write a letter to arospeed and show drivers who sold me them, cause i ain't right...it just ain't right!:(

Johnny50 13 November 2003 10:58 AM

Hi mate.

I've got the same wheels as you, but they're boggin at the minute.
I'll give the car a tub later, and check the wheels out.

Wont be impressed if they're the same. :(

drb5 13 November 2003 11:59 AM

just need to know. i ain't happy as u can imagine. don't know whether it's wee bit's off the pads or discs or what:confused:

Dougster 13 November 2003 12:41 PM

Dave what you tried cleaning them with?

If it is the crome lip 'Silvo' or Autoglym metal polish should help?

Johnny50 13 November 2003 12:45 PM

Is it all the way round the wheel ??

drb5 13 November 2003 05:05 PM

haven't ried anything bar either soapy hot water or t-cut. it's right into the lacquer of the rim.

mostly at the area where the spoke goes onto the rim. tiny wee speakles so it is.

phoned d****** and their gonna have a look at them and speak to arospeed while i'm there.

Spooks

drb5 26 November 2003 09:55 PM

well, sort of. the whole set ended up going slightly corroded. but i hope it doesn't happen again.:D

Johnny50 27 November 2003 10:26 AM

I'm now paranoid about mine....

But there's so much dirt on them anyways...i wouldn't know now ! ;)

Glad to hear they're sorting it for you mate.

drb5 29 November 2003 10:40 AM

WHAT THE F*CK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW!!!!

d****** have broken one of the locking wheel nuts when trying to get the wheels off and now don't want to take responsibity if they damage the wheel!!!! the reckon arospeed won't do the wheel under warranty if they do damage it, but can't speak to them till monday!

WHY DO I BOTHER!!!!:(

Scoty 29 November 2003 02:52 PM

M8, if Drivers damage a wheel it's there problem and responsibility to replace the alloy.
Surely they are not seriously going to send you away with 3 new alloys fitted and one old alloy that "they dont want to try and take off cos they ****ed a locking wheel nut?)

What do you do if you get a puncture?
Who's to say the locking wheel but wasn't faulty even before fitting?

drb5 29 November 2003 02:54 PM

tis what i thought too, but i shouldn't have to chase up mcgard.:(

drb5 07 December 2003 07:27 PM

DRIVERS

remember this name and NEVER go to them. they are the ones that broke my alloy locking wheel nut and will not replace the set for free or even half price. after all what i've been through with them too???

ar5ehole5!!!!

Johnny50 08 December 2003 08:45 AM

Just to let you know...

Spent yesterday cleaning the car...and my wheels are the same.

Look like white patches, just under the spokes... :(

Johnny50 08 December 2003 08:59 AM

Update...

Just spoken to Paul at TSL, where i bought the wheels.
They've got a 12 month warranty on wheels finish, so i've to take a pic of the worst one, and send it to him, and he'll get a new set shipped up.

Result !! :)

drb5 08 December 2003 12:30 PM

good on you, but the problem will come back then. what are we to do then???? i know i don't want to enter that god for saken place up in glasgow:( they'll tell me to take a flyin f62k to myself. wished i'd never bought them now!

Johnny50 08 December 2003 12:43 PM

YEah, i thought about that too...if the problem comes back.

Unless they're willing to keep sending out new wheels to us every 2-3 months !!

I'm quite glad..cos mine were all kerbed thanks to me old man ! hee hee.
Now they'll be new again !! :D

Anyways... What do we do if they bad again ??

drb5 08 December 2003 12:48 PM

well i'm gonna get me money back then...if i can, cause i ain't gonna deal with this sh1t every two months! unreal stuff so it is. see another couple of wheels i could be interested in!;)

Johnny50 08 December 2003 12:50 PM

Aye.
As much as i like the wheels, i sometimes think i should've just went for the compomotive MO's that i first thought about getting.

We'll see what happens.

drb5 08 December 2003 05:22 PM

we will, but i also have the most horrible feeling that when it happens again, we (well i won't:D) get the money back:(

Johnny50 08 December 2003 05:44 PM

Well if it happens again, i'll just keep asking for new wheels..
Simple. :D

drb5 08 December 2003 05:54 PM

f3ck that!!! every two months??? they ain't THAT nice!!! could get a nice set from the US OF AMERICE;)

Johnny50 08 December 2003 06:01 PM

The way mine keep getting kerbed..

every two months sounds perfect !! :D

drb5 08 December 2003 06:09 PM

lol:D

trance 08 December 2003 07:17 PM

drb 5,

Have been through two sets of those Mcguard locking nuts. To be honest they are ****e. Only ordered the second set because of the clearance on the alloys. Had them on my old car when i bought alloys from drivers, nothing but problems. They seem to always break on the outside edge. Whatever you do, if you keep them on, don't let any garage go near them with an air gun. Have had two break just from torquing them up by hand!!! :(. Even had problems with the locking keys, seems to me like the metal is to soft on them, they don't stand alot of abuse.

gregg

drb5 08 December 2003 07:24 PM

cheers bud. been trying to find out if i can fit the spline drive nut's but so far to no avail. just have to put them on lightly from now on. although i did have the nut's off a few times meself with no trouble. mind you, i did find the edges of the groove started to roll. there isn't any other company that make half decent locking nut's to fit the arospeed rs-gt's unfortunately. wish i did just buy slightly normal shaped allees now:(

you live and learn tho;)
