My MY98 Wagon Rear Wiper motor's not working.
The fuses are all OK, when I turn the switch on the steering column I get nothing from the back of the car. I've been right by the motor and got someone else to flick the switch to check for any noises, but there was nothing, I've read some other posts that seem to suggest that there's a common problem with the loom through the tailgate causing failures. Can anyone offer any advice? I've managed to get hold of a rear wiper motor cheaply - any tips on fitting it? Newbie at this sort of thing so helps needed. Cheers Tony |
Its likely that the wires running through the rubber gaiter at the top of the tailgate have become fatigued and broke due to the permanent opening and closing of the tailgate If this is the case you can effect a repair by cutting a small section of the cable out and reconnecting with a short piece of a simar gauge wire ( I prefer to solder the joints and insulate them with heat shrink tubing to mage a waterproof joint.

Thanks for the info Steve.

Buy one of those cheap test lamps with a needle point and you could test the wires before cutting them
